Motley Allen Mayhall

April 21, 2006 — March 26, 2023

Lubbock, Texas

Motley Allen Mayhall, best friend and companion to the Mayhall Family for 17 years, passed away in his mother's arms, Sunday, March 26, 2023, after a long, loved, and fulfilling life.

Motley, aka Motley Poo, was named after his daddy's favorite band, Motley Crue, and born on the day of his mama's favorite band leader, Robert Smith of The Cure.

Motley secured the ultimate home one weekend afternoon from the pet store window across from the Payless Shoe Store at the South Plains Mall. He made eye contact with Michele, and Michele hooked Tim, and a family they became.

Motley ruled the roost, and was the dog of the house, despite sharing the space with 2 dogs 10 times his size over half his life. These were his best fur-riends, Zeppelin and Joplin. They kept the homestead safe outside, and Motley kept the interior under close supervision. When Motley was 5, he gained a flesh sibling, Lennon, and he took on the role of big brother like a champ.

Motley Poo loved to cuddle with his mama, Michele, and follow his dad, Tim, around the home and garage. He doted on Lennon, meeting him after sports practice and riding in his lap in the car, making sure his precious cargo was safe. Motley was by far the sweetest dog and best companion, and he was Michele's Heart Dog, which is a rare and beautiful connection, and brutally heartbreaking. Please hold the family in your hearts as they navigate their new normal.

Motley was preceded in death by Jojo, his great great brother; his brother Zeppelin; sister, Joplin. Motley is survived by his paw-rents, Michele and Tim Mayhall; flesh brother, Lennon Mayhall; grand-pawrents, Larry and Joyce Allen, Tonya Anderson and Ronald Mayhall.
